Stinson Beach

Last Saturday we hopped in the car for an impromptu drive and ended up at Stinson Beach. We hadn't been there in years, which explained our misguided thought that it would be "just a 20 minute" drive from our home. Despite the really poor timing (the middle of Ronan's afternoon nap), it was a blast. Ronan takes the beach very seriously. He is absolutely, unequivocally focused on marching straight into the surf. No amount of distraction (look, sandcastles!) or coaxing could deter him from his mission. I wonder if that's how sea turtles and penguins are... marching steadfastly over rocks, gravel, seaweed, divets, wet sand, and anything else lying on the beach to get to the water. Ronan's never even BEEN in the sea and he's obsessed with the crashing waves and roiling surf. He's pretty much the same way on grass and in the sand at the playground. Unafraid. We took him for a walk in the Botanical Gardens the next day (a blustery foggy day) and within seconds he was delightfully covered with grass and mud, crawling happily along like the sweetest puppy ever.

He sat for about half a second...

before launching off to the sea.

He crawls like a little panda or bear cub. We love it sooo much! His hands turn inward, he keeps his head up high, and he makes a thud-thud-thud sound as he scuttles along.

Getting closer to the water....

Almost there...

Stopped (saved) by Daddy!

Love the playground and first visit to the ocean.
What a little courageous hunk. It just makes me want to be there for everything, and I can't. Dang.
