At just 5 weeks, Ronan is growing out of all his 0-3 month outfits. He's not that chubby (not yet, at least), but he's a looooong baby, and HEAVY. He's still putting on a pound a week! We figure he'll wear all his tiny outfits one last time and then graduate to the 3-6 month duds that won't pinch his diaper (ouch!).

Ronan's current favorite activities (besides eating, of course) are:
1) Stretching. Every chance he gets, he throws up his arms, arches his back, and makes a hilarious wrinkled face. He looks so adorable and funny that we call him "little old man" when he does this.
2) Straining and grunting. Yep, he's a grunter. And yep, it's always associated with gas or poop. He does this very loud straining routine at least 8 times a day. He turns so red I worry he'll pop a blood vessel in his head. I never thought a tiny baby could produce such loud, anguished sounds.
3) Kicking. He's our little soccer star! He kicks (and cries) whenever we change his diaper, which is at least 14 times a day. He kicks when he's hungry. He kicks when Mom doesn't feed him fast enough.
4) Having his head jiggled. For this, we call him "Jello-head." His absolute favorite way to go to sleep is to have Mom or Dad cradle him and jiggle his head ever so slightly for, oh, say, an hour. He loves to have his head draped back so far that he looks at the ceiling. We think that's a recipe for a migraine, but for him it's bliss.
5) Talking. Baby sounds, that is. Sooooo cute! We have whole conversations every morning, which consist of me talking and asking questions and him cooing, gurgling, squeaking, whooping, chirping, and making other heart-melting sounds.
6) Self-sabotaging nursing behavior. This just started recently. When he's trying to latch on, he sometimes gets so excited and frantic that he'll zoom in and... miss! This only makes him more frantic. Or, he'll be ready to start nursing, mouth open wide... and only centimeters from the target, he'll suddenly jam his fist into his mouth instead. The latest, of course, is him deciding to start stretching while nursing. Bad idea.
7) Smiling! He just started doing conscious, gummy smiles! We just love it. He has yet to laugh while he's awake, but we love seeing his breathy, shoulder-shaking giggles when he's sleeping. It's magical.
