Ronan's 3-year and Callum's 2-month doctor's visits

This week both Ronan and Callum went to the doctor for their well-baby visits, which meant lots of driving from Palo Alto to SF. It is definitely hard to manage two little kids when pressed for time! When one is dressed and ready to go, the other gets hungry... or needs to go to the bathroom... or decides he needs to have a good cry before going anywhere. I've resorted to making schedules with built-in time buffers for our two-kid excursions and even then we're often late... :-)

Both boys got clean bills of health and are growing like weeds. Ronan's now at the age where he loves the dr.'s office and asks lots of questions about the equipment and procedures. He giggled his way through his check-up and even stood still while getting his height and weight measured! Here are his 3-year stats:

Ronan's Height: 39.5 inches (95%)
Weight: 33.5 pounds (60%)

We're amused that if he's taller than 95% of other kids his age but weighs more than only 60%, then he's pretty darn lanky. When I look at him naked, he seems SO skinny but I guess it's good that he'll have that lean body frame.

Two days later, I dropped Ro off at school and drove Callum to his two-month check-up. He got his first round of shots and did great - no fussiness or fever. I checked back in our blog to Ronan's two-month visit and it's surprising (or maybe not, since they're brothers) how similar the boys are in size. Callum's actually a bit bigger and he definitely has more rolls of "baby love."

Callum's Height: 24.25 inches (90%)
Weight: 13.5 pounds (85-90%)

At two months, Callum does a lot of cooing and smiling, which melts our hearts. He doesn't laugh yet (Ronan was a hearty laugher at two months!), instead being content to sit by himself in his bouncy chair, rest in the Moby or sling, or be held by people. He recently found his right fist and that has been providing solid entertainment for him. His easy-going nature has made it so much easier to care for Ronan, who's in his demanding stage right now. (So thank you, Callum!)

Here's little Callum at 2 months:
