Happy 10 Months, Callum!

Our little squishy bundle of love is 10 months old today! Happy birthday, dear Callum. We have seen him achieve so many milestones lately and they've happened so quickly that we haven't had a chance to blog about them. So here is a little catch-up coverage on Callum, starting with today's headlines.

Today, his 10-month birthday, Callum pulled to standing, motivated by a desperate need to see mommy and let her know that he wants UP and OUT of his crib. Today, we also saw his third tooth erupt -- his top left central incisor. We were wondering why our normally easy-going baby has been waking up crying more often lately.

Other 9-10 month updates:
- Moves from sitting position to tummy and back to sitting
- Moves from sitting position to kneeling
- Lots of tummy spinning and "swimming"
- First clapping (and lots of it, with happy squeals of laughter!)
- Second word: "mama"
- First crawl on all fours
- Some lingering stranger anxiety (doesn't want complete strangers to hold him but he'll go to people he's met once or twice before)
- Reaches and lunges for everything in sight!
- Loves playing peekaboo with people and curtains
- Interrupted sleep. With the onset of mobility and the eruption of teeth, he wakes up a lot more often at night, often sitting up and crying. Our not-so-good solution? Bringing him into bed with us.
- Absolutely loves all solid food -- meat, veggies, fruit, cereal -- still mostly smooth but getting chunkier
- Nurses every 3-4 hours, except at night
- Does not like drinking breastmilk from a bottle. I think he'll wean himself of the bottle by the time he's 12 months, like Ronan.
- After several months of sputtering and protesting through his baths, he suddenly thinks baths and showers are the greatest things
- Survived mommy being away for work for 4 days. Daddy did great taking care of both kids but nearly succumbed to Bottle-Washing-Food-Preparation-Overload.

8-9 months:
- 9-month well-baby check-up with Dr. Glinder and all is normal and wonderful. Callum smiles his way through the whole visit (he smiles through all his doctor visits, actually)
- Height: 28 inches (41%)
- Weight: 19 lbs, 3 oz (28%)
- Head circumference: 44.5 cm (27%)
- Second tooth: bottom right central incisor
- Waves with left hand when drinking bottles and seeing people he loves!
- First Cheerios... Callum could subsist on these for a long, long time.
- Keen understanding of object permanance
- Spins on tummy and does a modified "army crawl"
- First words: "day-day," "dada"
- Mild stranger anxiety
- More purposeful reaching and grabbing
- Settled in and happy in the infant room (aka Puddle Room) at school - what an amazing transition!

7-8 months:
- Transitions smoothly from at-home nanny to infant day care at Ronan's school
- Sleeps 6 pm - 6 am, with 1-2 hours of naps during the day
- First tooth: bottom left central incisor
- Sits up well
- Continues to love solid food
- Passes objects from hand to hand and grabs toys from the hands of the older kids!
- Happy and smiley

6-7 months:
- Sits up with support at the beginning of the month and learns to sit up well on own by month's end
- Lots of vocalizing and very loud
- Tries more solid foods: avocado, sweet potato, squash, green beans, carrots, applesauce, pears. No allergies so far (unlike Ronan)

5-6 months:
- 6-month well-baby check-up with Dr. Dennis
- Height: 26 inches (36%)
- Weight: 18 pounds (61 %)
- Head circumference: 42.5 cm (18%)
- Finally learns to sleep through the night!
- Rolls from tummy to back
- First solid food: rice cereal and breastmilk
- Nurses every 2-3 hours

4-5 months:
- First roll (back to tummy)
- Stopped swaddling, "cried it out"
- Sleeps 6 hours at night
- Callum is ticklish!

3-4 months:
- First haircut
- Nanny Susan starts and Callum loves her

2-3 months:
- Starts sucking thumb (likes both)
- Leans way forward in car seat -- the cutest little movement!

1-2 months:
- 2-month well-baby check-up with Dr. Langston
- Height: 24.25 inches (90 %)
- Weight: 13 lbs, 8 oz (85%)
- Head circumference: 15.25 cm (25%)
- First smile

0-1 month:
- 1-month well-baby check-up with Dr. Langston
- Height: 23.25 inches (90 %)
- Weight: 10 lbs, 12 oz (75%)
- Very sleepy the first three weeks (sneaky baby, he made us think he'd be a sound sleeper from the get-go!)
- Lots of loud chirps, coos, gurgles, coughs, squeals
